Ayahuasca (Word in Quechua) is known as Níshi or Òni
within the Shipibo-Konibo Tradition.

Òni means "Wisdom" and once a person drinks the Medicine, it is said that the one drinking the brew ventures out "world of the medicine" known as Rao Néte - experiencing the multitudes of universes and states that is contained within the mystery

Ayahuasca is the key that opens up the door to the Spiritual Dimension but also helps clean out the impurities one carries.

The Onanyas and Merayas would often venture into these realms for a number of different reasons. Some would embark on the pursuit of knowledge - attaining information about the future and past in order to help the community out by foreseeing events that would occur, but also the secrets of the past and Ancient times. Others would venture into these realms to learn, heal or attain what you can regard as energetic gifts and Icaros (Healing songs) that could serve the purpose they had in mind. Long before Ayahuasca was commonly used within the tradition, they had other methods and ways to access landscapes.

Its space and possibilities are infinite - yet, the Shipibo´s have created a science, method and way to work with these realms that currently have attention of the whole Global Scientific and Health Community around the world due to their astonishing achievements in solving issues some cultures still to this day regard as impossible to treat as for now.

Within the Shipibo-Konibo Cosmology, Master-Plants like Ayahuasca is regarded as highly advanced, sentient beings - each with different characteristics and methodology to get you cleaned up and liberated.

A common saying within the Tradition uses the analogy that Ayahuasca can be seen as the hospital and all the different Master-plants can be viewed as the Doctors. This creates a good image of how powerful this Master-Plant is.

The Onanya (Healer/ Carrier of Wisdom) drinks the Medicine in order to diagnose the patient and find the root to your energetic in-balance. Once this diagnosis process is complete, with the help of a properly integrated team of a diverse range of Master-Plants and singing of Icaros (Healing songs), they clean their way all the way to the core of your Illness, removes it, and seals the Wound.

This puts into perspective the fact that it's not a necessity to drink Ayahuasca in order to heal, forexample through a "Master-Plant Dieta".

Even though we offer Guests at the Center to work with Ayahuasca during a Dieta at the center, it's convenient to be aware of the fact that it was uncommon for the Patient to drink during ceremonies back in the day. We simply offer this opportunity to the Guests and Samataibo (Dietteros) to connect with The Way Of The Medicine Path for those feeling the call to do so aswell..
